Hawaii Pacific defeated Vanguard 80–76 in a tightly contested PacWest matchup at home. The Sharks and Lions battled back and forth with nine lead changes before HPU pulled ahead late. Joshua West paced HPU with 19 points, while Quentin Meza added 16 and Avi Halpert chipped in 14 to help keep the Sharks in front. Hawaii Pacific’s balanced scoring and clutch free throws in the final seconds sealed the win.

The Sharks trailed early as Vanguard built a strong first-quarter lead, with Emma Schaaf leading all scorers with 21 points and Kaylee Byon adding 14 for the Lions. HPU chipped away throughout, staying competitive in the second half behind balanced scoring from Kyra Tanabe (19 points) and Jalen Samuel (12), but couldn’t complete the comeback. Despite solid effort on both ends, the Sharks couldn’t overcome Vanguard’s scoring bursts.
